The artist will carry cinder blocks through the space to build large structures throughout. Each Build day is dedicated to a black woman/trans woman who lost their life and voice to a senseless act of violence and policing. This Build Day is dedicated to Alberta Spruill.

Day 12 Recap

My final Build Day.

I have lifted close to 8,000 pounds in the past two weeks. Each day. Block by block. Building to honor. Building to let go. Building to find some type of peace.

Yesterday was my last build day. My emotions are at a high. I didn’t know what the finish line would look like but I know that the past few weeks have been present with love. I’ve had the ability to connect with so many amazing people. I’ve had the chance to nourish friendships and become apart of a greater community.

I just want to say thank you. These build days were a way for me to honor the lives of black women who no longer have a voice but I’ve also realized the power in also honoring everyone who is still here - still living and still fighting for their own voice.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share space with you. Thank you for allowing me the chance to be vulnerable. Thank you for giving me strength.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
